It's been a few days since I posted anything because there wasn't much to say. The first couple of days home from the hospital were rough. Jared was pretty much miserable and I was just trying to do my best to keep him comfortable.
But, I am happy to report that we have turned a corner and things are looking up. He decided to stop taking the pain meds and just take over the counter pain relievers and this has made a huge difference. The past 2 days have been much better. He has been up a little bit more and wanting to eat now. Today he made his first trip out of the house.
He went in for his post op appointment today and had his stitches removed. The Surgeon did an amazing job. Once Jared's hair grows back in you won't even know anything happened.
We now know why the Doctor said to take so much time off of work. Things will still be slow, he gets worn out easily and needs rest. But, we are happy that the worst of it is behind us now.
Thank you to everyone who has been checking in on him and praying for him!

Day 4
Jared has made good progress in the last day. He has been out of bed, sat up in a chair, taken a walk and a shower. He has talked on the phone a little and wanted to watch TV. All of these are great steps.
Now he is trying to transition from the pain meds in his IV to oral pain medicine. This will help him be able to go home sooner.
We have had a few good conversations about how our faith has been strengthened through this and how we don't think we will ever be the same. This has caused us take another step in trusting the Lord fully with our lives.
Here is what we read yesterday and encouraged us:
Psalm 100
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Updates
Jared was moved to a regular room yesterday afternoon. It is great to be able to be with him now. He is mostly sleeping, but will wake up every little bit and talk to me.
His head and neck are still hurting, thanfully he has continual dose of pain medication. The nurse told him that the 2nd and 3rd day are the worst for pain and then it starts to lessen up. But, the nausea has gone away and he is able to eat a little bit, some jello, applesauce and a banana. He is very happy about that.
He had an MRI early this morning and the Dr. showed us the results and it looks really good. There is no evidence of the tumor anymore and his brain stem has moved back to it's regular place and shape.
The Dr. wants him to try to get up and move around today. Jared is really hoping to get a shower today. We will do it little by little, right now he is sitting up and then we will try to get him to a chair then try to walk and so on... He just has to take it slow and monitor his dizziness.
He sat up for a few minutes and read the sports page. He can't stand to miss a day of the sports page. He is happy to hear about the Aggies making it to a bowl game. It's good to see him do some of his normal things.
I hope to have more to post this evening. We are defintely feeling your prayers. Thank you.

All is Well
Good morning! We are happy to report that we've seen Jared this morning and he is talking and in good spirits. The Dr. said that his facial nerve wasn't damaged, he is able to move all of his face which is a huge praise!
Sorry for the delay in posting, Jared was in recovery for a long time yesterday and didn't get to a room in ICU until about 1:00 am. So we didn't have much to report.
He is still pretty nauseated and in quite a bit of pain. So please pray for that to subside.
He will not be able to have visitors in ICU.
Thank you so much for checking on Jared. We really appreciate the prayers and support we are receiving!

Out of Surgery
Both the surgeons just came out to talk to us. They said everything went well, they were able to remove all of the tumor. Thankfully the facial feeling nerve is intact. He might have some weakness in his face, but it should be temporary. They still say that it is highly unlikely that the hearing nerve will recover.
He is not awake yet and is still in the recovery. We are wating for him to be moved to ICU so we can see him. They told us that it might be a couple more hours. We are ready to seeing him!

In Surgery
Jared's surgery is in progress. I've gotten 2 reports from the nurse that everything is going really well. I will post when we know something else.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!
